Melissa McNamee Venceslau has spent the last decade working exclusively in the area of immigration law, focusing on business immigration. She served first as Immigration & Relocation Manager, later promoted to Corporate Immigration Counsel at Novell, Inc., the industry-leading multinational software and services corporation headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts. At Novell, Melissa managed the inbound and outbound international transfers of hundreds of employees working in a project-specific basis throughout the globe. In addition to administering Novell’s internal immigration workflow, she assisted the company in a variety of immigration-related capacities, most notably in relation to Novell’s M&A negotiations and intracorporate governance relating to the international transfer of employees subject to diverse jurisdictional criteria. Melissa has also served as an legal educator, hosting University of Miami law students in firm internships for the past three years and teaching PERM Labor Certification at Florida International University and Temporary Protected Status at University of Miami.
Her professional areas of focus include H-1B, L-1 A/B, TN, PERM Labor Certification, EB-1 Adjustment of Status as an International Executive or Manager, EB-2 & EB-3 categories, Waivers, Family Based Immigration, Naturalization and troubleshooting of complex immigration cases. She also works with corporate clients performing in-house audits for I-9, PERM and LCA compliance.
